Oligomerization Strategy of D-A-Type Conjugated Molecules for Improved NIR-II Fluorescence Imaging

Fluorescence imaging (FI) in the second near-infrared (NIR-II) window has emerged as a promising method for cancer diagnosis because of its superior properties such deep penetration depth and high signal-to-background ratio. Despite superiorities organic conjugated nanomaterials NIR-II FI, issues low fluorescence quantum yield, weak metabolic capability, undefined molecular structure polymers, light-harvesting ability, short emission wavelength, synthetic complexity small molecules still remain to be concerned. We herein propose an oligomerization strategy by facilely adjusting time balance advantages disadvantages between polymers molecules, obtaining candidate (CO1, time: 1 min) with optimal optical performance. Then CO1 is further prepared into water-dispersed nanoparticles (CON1) via nanoprecipitation approach. By virtue suitable size, excellent properties, toxicity, strong cell-labeling CON1 successfully employed vivo imaging, permitting real-time visualization blood vascular system tumors sensitivity resolution. This work thus not only provides personalized nano-agent but also highlights development systems performance bio-imaging.
